Parents, carers and families are the first educators of young children. The nursery aims to support all children and their families in all aspects of the welfare, care and education of their children.
We aim to be inclusive, and welcome all children and families into our nursery, doing our best to ensure families are comfortable leaving their children in our care.
We strive to make all families aware of our aims, routines and policies.
We ensure families are informed on a regular basis about their child’s progress and are told about successes and challenges that occur. Individual children’s profiles are available through Tapestry an online learning journal, which parents can access and add too at anytime using the log in and specific password allocated to them.
We provide opportunities for families to learn about the nursery curriculum and about young children’s learning in the nursery and at home. Our ‘Two Year Checks’ and ‘Birthday Discussion’ invite families in to discuss their child’s progress and explore next steps, around their birthday each year.
Through conversations, we listen to what family’s value. We listen to techniques which work at home and share those which work at nursery. We try to promote consistency in expectations.
We ensure all families are fully informed about meetings, conferences, training and workshops. Our family board shares exciting local events, and good ideas, and is updated regularly.
We make known to all families the system for registration queries, complaints or suggestions.
We believe that a family’s involvement in their child’s nursery life enriches each child’s learning experiences and enjoyment. We therefore invite involvement from families, sharing talents, stories, songs and activities at any point throughout the year. We will invite families in to join us for special occasions, such as birthdays, festivals and outings etc, and extend this invite further to include families at any other time.
